How to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Staying in a comfort zone is much easier for most people than the thought of making changes.

It is an easy way out because of the feelings it brings such as safety and security. But if you never venture out and are not prepared to deal with a few uncomfortable feelings, you may be missing out on a lot of alternative possibilities that could enhance your life and assist you in unlocking your true potential.

Coaching is one of the ways to explore the possibilities of change in certain areas of your life in a safe environment. Some other options are:

  1. Starting with small steps. Make one small change per week then it won’t seem so daunting.
  2. Learn strategies to separate your thoughts and feelings and put them aside. Sometimes our minds constantly chatter and race and we get caught up in a million thoughts. Instead learn to notice these thoughts without getting caught up in them. Then put them aside and focus on taking the action required to move you closer to your goal.
  3. Educate yourself by researching and getting all the information you need to move forward in a positive direction. Learn from people who have previously achieved and succeeded in what you are aiming to do. This can be motivating.

This month’s Mantra is by Maria Robinson:

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending”

If you are in a comfort zone or a rut being honest with yourself and identifying it is the first step. Don’t wait, identify it and start the process of making some changes slowly. As time goes by our circumstances change so keep evaluating and taking stock of where you are and where you want to be.
